Turtle Trek

How to Participate

  1. Find the golden turtle.
Keep an eye out while you are visiting local businesses, parks, landmarks, and public spaces around Perham.
  2. Snap a photo.
Take a picture of the turtle where you found it. You can include yourself, your group, or just the turtle.
  3. Upload your photo and location.
Share your photo and tell us where the turtle was found so others can follow along with its journey.
  4. Keep the trek going.
Leave the turtle in place for someone else to find, or move it to another safe, public location.
  5. Be respectful.
Please do not hide the turtle in dangerous, private, restricted, or hard-to-access areas. Choose places where others can safely find and enjoy it.

The Traveling Golden Turtles

During our 2026 Turtle Fest celebration, 50 mini gold turtles will be out and about in the Perham Area!

When you discover a Turtle Trek turtle, take a photo with it and upload your picture along with the location where you found it.

Then, keep the fun going by leaving the turtle where it is for the next person to find, or move it to a new public spot for someone else to discover.

The Turtle Trek is a community adventure designed to get people exploring, sharing, and enjoying the Perham Area one turtle at a time.

Helpful Hiding Tips

Place the turtle somewhere visible enough to be found, but fun enough to feel like a discovery. Great spots include public benches, business counters with permission, park areas, visitor-friendly landmarks, or community gathering places. Please avoid roadsides, private property, locked areas, bathrooms, or anywhere it could be damaged, lost, or create a safety concern.
